First shows of 2009 announced!

Amsterdam will come out of hiding to play two shows this Spring, the first since the band’s best year ended.

First off will be on Saturday 23 May at the New Picket and you can buy tickets right now from ticketline.co.uk.

One of Liverpool’s newest and best venues, the Picket has played host to Elvis Costello and Damien Dempsey since it opened and the night will be extra special as support comes from one of Liverpool’s best bands right now, Digsy and The Sums.

The following week the band hits London on Saturday 30 May. This show will take place at the Monto Water Rats theatre in Kings Cross. The boys are very excited to be hitting this great refurbished venue and tickets are available right now from ticketweb.co.uk.

The band are recharging their batteries after a hectic 2008 and will be announcing some Spring live dates soon. Ian is currently working on new material and plans for 2009 are being discussed with the label.

Irish legend Christy Moore will be releasing his brand new album worldwide on Sony Records in the first week of March and it will include his version of Does this train stop on Merseyside?

Amsterdam HQ has heard the finished version and Christy does a remarkable job of Amsterdam’s most famous tune.

Happy new year to all Amsterdamsters everywhere!

Last show of the year!

Last show of the year!

Amsterdam will perform the final show of the tour as a 7-piece at the Liverpool Carling Academy tomorrow night.

This will be a perfect send-off to a great year for the band and a great year for Liverpool as a city. Tickets are still available from gigantic.com and you will be able to pay on the door.

Unfortunatly Laura Critchely has had to pull out due to ill health, Amsterdam wish her a speedy recovery. Amsterdam guitar tech Mikey Dripping will now take to the stage with his Missin’ Beats at 8:00pm and the Trestles will be on at 8:45pm.

So bring your singing voices, it’s gonna be one of those nights…
