New single announced!

In a press released from HQ, Amsterdam are thrilled to announce details of their forthcoming single:

Home is the new single from Amsterdam, the much-lauded Liverpool band who have been receiving plaudits from across the music industry since the release of their debut album, The Journey in 2005.

Enthusiastic supporters of Amsterdam include the late lamented John Peel, who included their anthemic track, Does this train stop on Merseyside? on his last ever John Peel Festive Fifty and Elvis Costello, who has publicly championed their music, even asking them to play live with him on BBC TV’s Jonathan Ross show.

Irish legend Christy Moore, who describes Does this train stop on Merseyside? as “a thing of great beauty”, is now doing his own version of the song at all his live shows and he also makes a cameo appearance on the band’s new album Arm in arm, set for release in February 2008.

Home – released 10 December 2007 – is the first track on the new album Arm in arm. Although not a Christmas song, Home will strike a chord with many as they contemplate their home and loved ones during the festive season.

The single release will coincide with nine live dates by in December, when they support The Icicle Works on their full UK tour.
