Amsterdam did a storming two-song acoustic set on Tuesday night at BBC Radio 2 in Birmingham in the studio they actually record The Archers!

Janice danced and sang along as the boys did their stuff and then had a lengthy chat on air about all things Amsterdam. Ian revealed the sources and inspirations for the two songs Does This Train Stop on Merseyside? and the fabulous Joe’s Kiss and Janice said they had never had so many emails requesting songs.

Afterwards even the newsreader came in to say she loved it and the response from across the country was amazing. For the next six days you can listen to the show in the BBC Radio 2 listen again archive at www.bbc.co.uk/radio2.

Amsterdam’s second single Does This Train Stop on Merseyside? has now been put back to Monday 9 May due to production difficulties with the B-sides. It’s not a problem however and the May tour is now being used to promote the single.

The full band performance LIVE on Janice Long’s BBC Radio 2 show on Tuesday 26 April is still on.

The album was produced by Tony Kiley (ex-Blow Monkeys) and was recorded in west Wales and on Merseyside.

You can now pre-order the second official Amsterdam single, the already classic Does This Train Stop on Merseyside? in three separate formats.

CD1 has a destined-to-be-classic brand new Amsterdam song John and Paul, a wonderful lament to Liverpool’s most famous sons.

CD2 has the full, unedited version of Merseyside as well as beautiful new song The Strangest Girl. Band producer Tony Kiley says this new tune may well point the way for future Amsterdam recordings.

All the 7″ vinyl will be collectors items, individually signed by the band, and will have the full unedited version of the main song. The B-side will see the first ever release of the newly recorded lost Amsterdam gem God Bless Pete Wylie with Ian on lead vocals.

Also their have been two changes to the album tour in May. It looks likely that the guys will be playing the 12 Bar Club in Preston on Sunday 8 May and the Southampton show is now on Sunday 15, NOT Monday 14 as previously advertised.
