‘Classic’ single finally gets release date

Amsterdam’s second single Does This Train Stop on Merseyside? will be released next month on Monday 18 April.

This is the first time the song has ever been officially released despite the fact that it has already gained classic status mainly due to the fact it was the late great John Peel’s favourite other song.

Just like the band’s debut release The Journey (which hit the UK top 40 at number 32) this single will be available in three different formats. This will include fabulous brand new songs Strangest Girl and John and Paul as well as a mini DVD documentary presented by the band which visits all the major sites mentioned in Does This Train Stop on Merseyside?

Following the magnificent success of the first single the band are hoping they can capitalise upon this with the release of what is widely believed to be their finest moment.

Here we go again everyone!

Tour finale in London

The band rounded off their first ever full-length UK tour last night in the capital at the Borderline.

With the assistance of spoonfuls of honey from Morgo, Ian made sure his suffering voice didn’t distract him and the band from the task of delivering another storming show to celebrate top 40 chart success.

Paulie began the gig by singing the call-to-arms intro from Takin’ on the World, and with the crowd happy to help out, it wasn’t long before the packed venue was in full party mode. The set included:

Feels Like Takin’ on the World
The Gangster

Joe’s KissThe Journey

Tickets are still available for the big night from SeeTickets or by telephoning 020 7534 6970 and reserving tickets. It may still be possible to pay on the door but we recommend you get there early, just incase.

Label mates Ricky are also playing as well as the infamous The Garys.

The very first Amsterdam merchandise will be available and that if anyone wants to have their The Journey CD sleeves signed, the boys will be by the Merchandise stall 10 minutes after the show has finished.

So all come along and enjoy yourselves, it’s your night on Saturday, and its just the beginning of voyage we’ve all been waiting for a long time.
